BBC Ident

The BBC ident 'circle' aims at targeting older viewers as it uses hippos to capture the audiences attention, in the ident it shows us what it would be like to see hippos swimming under water before they all emerge together in one big rotating circle.  This ident has chosen to follow an underwater setting, using hippos and fish, we see an underwater camera angle when the hippos are swimming together.

This is eye-catching as the hippos used are not real, therefore they have added little comedy to their ident, as in some shots the hippos are smiling and rubbing noses. At the end of the ident the hippos come together to form a rotating circle, this targets viewers as this then later emerges with the BBC logo. The producers have used both computer animation and live action backgrounds.
