First Draft of Bullying Advert

WWW: I have added a black and white effect to the advert, which I think makes the video look more professional. There are also some sound effects which work really well with the advert and the timing is good. Finally, I have cut quite quickly, which makes the advert more eye catching as well as having a fast paced feel to it.

EBI: One improvement that can be made is to re-shoot some footage as the camera is shaky, which gives an unprofessional look to advertisement. I could also think about adding some music as this would make the advertisement more appealing to my target audience. As well as this, I will need to re-shoot due to continuity problems, for example the actor throws a cup in the video however the cup can still be seen after it is thrown.

Uploading My Work

After filming had taken place I would have to put the footage onto the computer, by taking out the memory card in the camera and putting it into the computer. After this it was important to save the footage then import it onto the editing software. The editing software that I used was adobe premier CS6. The software allowed me to edit my music video together, using various different effects. After the video was complete, I exported my work then uploaded it to YouTube.

Feedback From Client

After presenting my first draft of the music video to my client I was given some feedback on production. I was told that the video needed a wider variety of shots, therefore I went and shot some more shots using different locations and costumes. This has improved my video because there is more footage making it more appealing than it was before. As well as this, I have also changed the background behind the lead singer, as this was seen as dull and boring. I have now changed this to a light purple, making this more colourful, as well as the colours used will attract my target audience. Some advantages to my first draft were that the editing was engaging throughout, also that the shots were well framed and steady.

First Draft - Music Video

This is my first draft for my music video. There are still lots of changes to make, however, the structure of the video is there. I still need to put backgrounds behind each shot, as well as do more filming. This will give me a wider variety of shots available to use in the video, therefore will make my video my exciting and eye catching. I am happy with the guitar solo, as I think the cutting is very fast and this makes the video more appealing, however, I will try to add more cutaway shots within this section of the video.

Animatics for Bullying Advert

My first idea includes a victim of cyber bullying. We see shots of this saddening him, not allowing him to forget about the issue. He then seeks help from our website, which allows the bullies to stop making contact with him.

My second idea is about a child coming home from school, to go onto his computer. However, he doesn't see a computer he sees a terrifying monster. This is to show that bullying can affect people differently.

In my final idea there are a variety of teenagers explaining what they know about being safe online. I use various objects to symbolise bullying, for example having bottles of coca cola next to a bottle of Pepsi, this shows the bottle of Pepsi is the outcast amongst the other bottles.

Budgeting Review

My total production budget is £954, this figure includes camera/tripod hire, location hire, crew hire and editing software hire.

I found that the 'Nikon D5200' would cost £40 per day. I felt this was the most appropriate camera to hire because this camera allows me to crop images without losing any detail. This will be very effective when editing. Therefore, I felt that this was the most appropriate purchase due to the budget.

I have also found a basic tripod which will cost £15 per day, this is due to the fact that a tripod will not often being used during filming.

The total cost of the lighting and green screen is £159 they will be placed in a hired London house. The cost of the London house per day is £75 however, filming here should only take 2 days max. I felt this was the best place to film after making my decision based on viewing the images of the house of the website.

My advertisement will only include one actor, therefore there is a slightly lower cost on this aspect of the advertisement. I have found an actor, which will cost £80 per day. I should expect to hire him for 3 days bringing him to a total of £240.

I have found an editing software suit to hire, the total cost being £525, this is for 2 days. I have chosen this specific editing suit because of the latest software it has to offer. This is including adobe premier and after effects. I should expect to use this suit for 2 days post filming.

Paper Edit

This is my paper edit, which shows the timing of each cut within my music video. The locations of the tracks are written on the side of each track name, this made editing a lot easier. This is because I had a rough idea of when to cut in front of me whilst editing.

Budgeting for Advertisement

Before making my advertisement it is important to work out the costs of the whole production.This is so that I can work out how much the production will costs altogether, as well as where I will get the equipment from.

Footage of Myself Using Planning Documents and Explanation

Whilst making my music video it was vital to have some planning documents to refer to, whilst filming. This is because I could look back on my notes to recreate what I imagined would happen in the video. Therefore, I could look back and picture the video in my head whilst trying to recreate it on film. Without the use of my planning documents it would have made filming more difficult and it would have taken twice the time.

I was also aware of the props and costumes that were going to be used, therefore I could make this look more significant when filming. For example I knew that in the studio shots the lead singer would be wearing a classic red dress, so therefore it was important to make this more visible, using lighting ect.

The most important planning document for my music video was the anamatic, this is because it was a visual plan of what the video was going to look like before any filming had taken place. I would watch my anamatic on the day of any filming so that i could remind myself of the different shot types used, as well as props and costumes.

There very few props used in my music video, those that were used are:

The costumes that were worn by the performers were casual clothing for the guitarist, which included a branded t-shirt and jeans. However, for the main performer I asked her to bring in a red dress to wear for the performance shots, as well as casual clothing, when taking photos of herself.

Make up was only worn by the main performer in the music video, however, this was a very subtle style of make up.

Second Draft of Music Video

I have now completed my final draft of my music video, one of the changes being made was changing the background from the green screen. I have no added some more colours to make the video look more colourful and exciting, however, improvements can be made in some of these shots as the background is a little patchy. I have also made the guitar solo shots cut faster, therefore being able to enhance the pace of the music video. This is good because the video has now got more energy to it on these particular shots. I have also incorporated some shots of the singer taking photos of herself. This is effective because it links in with the lyrics used in the song, making the music video more realistic.

Using Planning Documents

Storyboards:
I have used my storyboards whilst editing and filming, which has helped me to visualize my music video, therefore making it easier to edit. This is because I have the correct order to look at from the storyboards, as well as making it quicker and more efficient. I could also see what shot types I had planned to shoot, this way I knew how and where to set the filming equipment up.

Music Video Evaluation

WWW: So far I am pleased with the synchronisation of the video, I think that I have made use with the clips I currently have. I also like the guitar solo, as this looks professional and is very in time with the music and the video together. I think that my cutting is very fast, which I am happy with, aswell as cutting on beat. There are no shaky shots and the footage is well focused.

EBI: The music video can be improved with more footage to edit with, at the moment there is not a lot, however, there is enough to make a draft of the video the whole way through. Another improvement is to change the background on the performance shots, at the moment there is a blue screen, however I will change this to white or black.
